Lavrov on Reaching Agreement for Ukrainian Settlement
Russia is prepared for a political-diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, but options for agreement are still not in sight. This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
“We are open to a political-diplomatic resolution, considering our legitimate interests, the realities that have developed over many years, which have now led to the current situation. However, in the absence of serious proposals from those who declared war and a willingness to take our interests and realities into account, it will still not be possible to speak at the negotiating table. Such options are not emerging,” Lavrov said during a speech in the State Duma.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia and Ukraine will come to an agreement sooner or later, and relations between the peoples will be restored, but this will take a long time.
