US Works on a Six-Week Ceasefire between Israel and Hamas

The United States is working on a hostage deal that will include a six-week pause in the Israel-Hamas war. This statement was made by U.S. President Joe Biden against the backdrop of the departure of Mossad chief David Barnea to Cairo for another round of negotiations.

“The U.S. is working on a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas that would lead to an immediate and sustainable ceasefire in Gaza for at least six weeks, during which we can allow time to build something more stable,” Biden said on Monday.
