Armenian Ministry of Defense Issues Statement

The information disseminated by Azerbaijani media regarding a shooting by Armenian servicemen on the state border section of Kapan-Zangelan on February 12 is under investigation. The higher command has clearly defined in written orders the circumstances under which a serviceman may and/or is obliged to make a decision to open fire based on the situation assessment.

Preliminary information indicates that such a situation did not exist in that area on February 12. Should this be confirmed, those responsible for the violation of the order will be held accountable.
