Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry on the Deadline for Russian Peacekeepers
The deadline for the presence of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Azerbaijan (on the territory of occupied Artsakh) is set to expire in 2025. This was stated by the head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Aikhan Hajizade.
He argued that after the anti-terrorism operations conducted by Azerbaijan in September last year, there has been a need to organize regular meetings and discussions regarding the daily activities of the peacekeeping forces.
"At the same time, considering that the Armenian Armed Forces have massively mined Azerbaijani territories where the peacekeepers are located over the past three years, as well as taking into account the issue of unexploded ordnance in the area, there arises a necessity to hold consultations aimed at efforts to eliminate these threats," Hajizade said.
