EAEU to Strengthen Control Over Vehicle Imports
The Russian government is proposing to enhance oversight of customs duties payment and accounting accuracy for certain goods and vehicles imported through EAEU member countries. This information was published in a draft order from Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
"EAEU member states (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia) are offered to consider the possibility of holding joint measures for customs control of goods organized by the customs authorities of member states, with the option for additional accounting of customs duties and other payments by customs authorities," reports Izvestia, citing the document.
Moreover, relevant authorities may be required to provide monthly reports on the average value of goods imported into EAEU member countries. This is necessary to ensure that the value of goods does not decrease during importation.
The enforcement may also be tightened on vehicles registered under preferential rules in one country but effectively used in another EAEU member state. Measures will be taken to prevent their export to third countries. Individuals who violate this rule will face accountability.
Additionally, member states are advised to establish a unified risk management process and create unified risk profiles for all customs services by April 1, 2024.
