King Charles III of the United Kingdom has spoken for the first time following news of his cancer diagnosis. His message was published on the Buckingham Palace website.

“I want to sincerely thank everyone for the numerous messages of support and well wishes I have received over the past few days. These kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement, as those who have suffered from cancer will understand,” the King stated. “It is also moving to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has contributed to public understanding and shed light on the work of all the organizations that support cancer patients and their families in the UK and beyond. My admiration for their great care and dedication has only increased through my personal experience,” he added.
