Russia's Central Election Commission Rejects Opposition Candidate Nadezhdin's Registration
Mariam Z.
The Central Election Commission of Russia (CEC) has refused to register Boris Nadezhdin as a presidential candidate, as announced during the commission's meeting. The agency cited the 'invalid signatures' in support of the politician's candidacy as the reason for its decision.
Nadezhdin is the only candidate who publicly criticizes Russia's war against Ukraine and President Putin's policies.
Thus, the CEC has registered only four candidates, including the current President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, who is preparing to run for a fifth term.
The voting for the Russian presidential elections will take place from March 15 to 17, 2024.
