‘Armenian History Is the Story of the Absence of Statehood’: Pashinyan

‘Armenian history is the story of the absence of statehood with episodes of having statehood, whereas the history of Armenia is the history of statehood with episodes of not having it,’ said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a question-and-answer session in the National Assembly.

He emphasized that they aim to replace the episodes of not having statehood in history with a dominance of episodes of having statehood.

Pashinyan remarked that no one will take this state from the people because this state has an owner—the people.

According to him, even when history relates to the Armenian community in Ukraine or Poland, the focus should be on Armenia, and history should be viewed from the perspective of Armenia.

He also posed a question regarding the model of patriotism—whether love for the homeland is expressed within the state or if the homeland is loved as an abstract concept.
