Marutyan on His Removal from the Council
The Civil Contract party has brought calamities to Armenia and its people, and the removal of 5 opposition members from the Yerevan City Council is just one of the minor incidents. This was stated by Hayk Marutyan, the head of the National Progress faction in the Yerevan City Council, after leaving a council meeting and speaking to reporters.
“The authorities come to city council meetings and merely endorse decrees handed down from above. I am sure many of them have no idea what they are voting on and what the consequences should be,” he said.
Marutyan emphasized that, for example, after increasing the cost of the red lines fee, nothing has changed regarding the decongestion of Yerevan. He stressed that he does not know a single person who has left their car at home and is using public transport after this decision.
“They implemented a price increase without ensuring proper public transport, it’s outright theft,” he stated. Marutyan highlighted that this decision has once again struck the socially vulnerable segments of the population.
