Video: Plane Carrying Famous Figure Skaters Makes Hard Landing and Skids Into Snowbank in Russia

A plane carrying renowned figure skaters and coach Tatyana Tarasova made a hard landing in Saransk, Russia, skidding off the runway into a snowbank. In total, there were 87 passengers on board, including crew members.

Among the passengers of the Rossiya airline's flight to Mordovia were honored coach Tatyana Tarasova, as well as figure skaters Svyatlana Sokolovskaya and Alexey Tikhonov. They were en route to the Russian Junior Figure Skating Championship, according to TASS.

Eyewitnesses told Izvestia that the “plane swayed from side to side and then came to a sudden halt.” Despite the hard landing, there were no reported injuries.

The Federal Agency for Air Transport reported that the aircraft left the runway by approximately 10 meters. The Saransk airport is temporarily closed, and the Investigative Committee is conducting an inquiry into the incident.
