Biden Announces Meeting with France's Late President
US President Joe Biden has announced that during a recent meeting with voters in Las Vegas, he spoke about France's late President François Mitterrand, who passed away in 1996, according to Fox News.
“President Biden told the crowd gathered in Las Vegas on Sunday that he had recently met with François Mitterrand, the French president who died nearly 30 years ago,” the report states.
In the published video, the head of the White House recounted his meeting with the French president during the G7 summit in Great Britain. “I sat down and said, ‘America is back.’ And Mitterrand, from Germany, I mean from France, looked at me and said, ‘Well, how long has he been back?’”
As noted in the publication, it is likely that the US President was referring to current French President Emmanuel Macron, but once again made an error.
François Mitterrand served as President of France from 1981 to 1995. His presidency became the longest in the country's history. Mitterrand became the oldest President of France in the last century and passed away in 1996 at the age of 79.
