It Is Revealed Why the Wife of Allen Simonyan's Brother Was Arrested

The wife of Allen Simonyan, the Speaker of the National Assembly, has been arrested. Ani Gevorgyan, who is married to Karlen Simonyan, was taken into custody recently.

According to Hraparak.am, it has been determined what charges are being brought against her. Ani Gevorgyan has worked for many years at one of the most renowned IT companies, SynErgy, where she held the position of program manager.

About a year and a half ago, SynErgy participated in a tender announced by the Ministry of Economy. Four companies took part in the bidding, but the tender was canceled, and naturally, SynErgy did not win. This unsuccessful tender forms the basis of Ani Gevorgyan's charges according to the pre-investigation body.

It has become clear that authorities are attempting to detain the mother of two young children in order to extract testimony against other women who were arrested today—especially against Ani Ispriyan, the Deputy Minister of Economy, and the Head of the Ministry's Bureau.
