Deputy Head of Military Police's Criminal Division Assaults NSS Officer with 7 Others

According to reports from "Hraparak," days ago, Arthur Avagyan, the deputy head of the Criminal Division of the Military Police of Armenia's Ministry of Defense, brutally assaulted officer, Captain Yura Darbinyan, from the National Security Service (NSS) with seven other individuals.

The assault took place in front of Darbinyan's pregnant wife, two underage children, and mother. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on January 14, at the beginning of Mayakovski village, when Darbinyan attempted to overtake a slow-moving vehicle marked "MD 8008 M" that was attached to Avagyan's car.

The driver of the NIVA, who was under the influence of alcohol, stopped the NSS officer. An argument ensued, which escalated into a physical altercation.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has informed the source that a report regarding the incident, along with the necessary documents, has been sent to the prosecuting authority.

The media has reported that Yura Darbinyan is known for his achievements in the Armenian armed forces. In 2014, as the commander of the first crew of Armenian tankists, he led his team to a second-place finish in the International Tank Biathlon-2014 competitions held at the Russian Federation's "Alabino" training ground, and as a result, the team won a T-90 tank valued at over 10 million dollars.
