VIDEO: Virginity Testing is an Issue, It Should Be Banned - MP from the RPA

Three members of the ruling party in Armenia, Zaruhie Batoyan, Sona Ghazaryan, and Tsovinar Vardanyan, have proposed a package of legislation that includes a provision to ban virginity testing. Today, in the National Assembly, journalists asked Tsovinar Vardanyan about the research that led to the conclusion that there is a need for such legislative prohibition.

"The legislative ban is fundamentally about physical violence, and virginity testing also falls under the category of physical violence. The study was not only prompted by medical institutions but also by non-governmental organizations," she noted.
