VIDEO: The Ombudsman on the Arrests of the Deputy Minister of Economy and the Wife of Alen Simonyan's Brother

One of our functions is to receive complaints and conduct discussions within that framework. In the case of yesterday's arrests, it seems we did not have a complaint.

This was stated by Ombudsman Anahit Manasyan during a press briefing after a government session, referring to the arrests of the Deputy Minister of Economy and the wife of Alen Simonyan's brother.

In general, regarding detentions, the defender noted that detention should occur in exceptional cases, whereas we often have a somewhat different situation.

“Detention is applied quite extensively, which raises questions,” she noted.
