VIDEO: Could a Corruption Chain Reach You? Questions to the Minister of Economy
It should be noted that the last incident at the Ministry of Economy occurred three years ago, and three years later, there were individuals who had been arrested and taken in for questioning, yet there has been no judicial decision regarding them to this day, even though it was equally scandalous.
This was stated today by the Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a press briefing in front of the Government, addressing questions related to the scandalous incident around the Ministry of Economy that occurred yesterday.
“If you read the statement of the Investigative Committee carefully, the first episode essentially relates to the Deputy Minister of Economy Ani Espiryank, and there are two important expressions missing from it – one is the word bribery or any other indication of being motivated,” he said.
Journalists pointed out that the term embezzlement was mentioned, to which the minister denied and said that there is no mention of embezzlement.
“The first episode also does not mention spending budgetary funds. In other words, there were no budgetary funds spent in this episode, which we need to understand how it was spent, and there is no indication of any motivation. Here, additional clarification is needed about what is meant by abuse. We are more than confident that this tender process has always been under the supervision of lawyers and other partners, including the Ministry of Finance. I am more than confident that the court will clarify that there will not be any violations regarding procurement and related laws,” he said.
He mentioned that he reports on all programs and has strictly instructed to stay within the legal framework.
When asked by one of the journalists whether a corruption chain could reach him, the minister responded, “It is excluded.”
