UN Court Partially Recognizes Russia's Violation of Anti-Terrorism Convention

The International Court of Justice, after reviewing Ukraine's claims, decided that Russia has partially violated provisions of UN conventions regarding the suppression of terrorist financing and the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. At the same time, the court did not grant Ukraine's demand for compensation. This information comes from Kommersant.ru.

According to the court's ruling, Russia violated only one provision of the convention on combating the financing of terrorism: it did not investigate evidence of financial support for the separatists in Donbas in 2014. The court did not find violations of other articles cited in the application.

The UN court also recognized a partial violation by Russia of the Convention on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, as the number of Ukrainian language learners in Crimea has decreased in recent years. According to the decision, the court found no evidence of racial discrimination against Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians since 2014, which were referenced in Ukraine's application.
