Not the First Case: Zakharova on Vandalism of the Besieged Leningrad Children Monument
The official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, has commented on the incident that occurred near the monument to the besieged Leningrad children in Yerevan. This was reported by TASS.
“We strongly condemn the vandalism that took place near the monument to the besieged Leningrad children in Yerevan on January 29. We deeply regret to note that this is not the first case of desecration of monuments dedicated to the heroic pages of our shared history between Russia and Armenia. We observe a sharp reaction from our friendly Armenian people regarding this incident, and we expect the same from the Armenian authorities, as well as an expectation that such acts of barbarism will be prevented in the future. Such actions represent a public campaign attempting to tarnish Russia’s role in the South Caucasus,” the statement reads.
