Iran Seizes Fuel Tanker in Persian Gulf

The naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have seized a tanker carrying 2 million liters of smuggled diesel fuel in the Persian Gulf. This was announced by IRGC General Heidar Henarijan Mehrad, according to Tasnim news agency. The information was reported by RIA Novosti.

The smuggling vessel was reportedly sailing under the flag of one of the Oceanian countries and was intercepted during the refueling phase by Iranian military forces. Once the tanker entered the operational zone of Iran's naval forces, it was seized.

It is mentioned that the operation took place with a court order. According to the agency, there were 14 crew members on board the vessel. They have all been arrested and handed over to the country's law enforcement agencies. It is noted that one of the IRGC naval forces' missions is to combat fuel smuggling in the Persian Gulf.
