We Are Waiting for US Actions: Erdogan
Turkey is waiting for the next step from the United States regarding the sale of F-16 fighter jets and modernization kits to Ankara, following the ratification of Sweden's NATO membership application. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The information was reported by Reuters.
According to Erdogan, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is closely collaborating with his American counterpart Secretary of State Antony Blinken on this matter. “We are waiting for US actions,” Erdogan said.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden had approached the American Congress requesting immediate approval for the sale of F-16 aircraft to Turkey. It is noted that Ankara has sought to purchase 40 fighter jets and 79 kits since 2021 for the modernization of its fleet, which will be possible after Erdogan's confirmation for NATO's acceptance of Sweden.
