Jhvjhv Aro's Son Ignored Traffic Lights, Hit Police Vehicle: Details

The Investigation Committee of Armenia is conducting an inquiry into actions taken by a resident of Yerevan, S.V., for deliberately obstructing the lawful activities of police officers by applying violence against them, damaging property used by them, committing hooliganism, driving a vehicle without a driver's license, as well as illegal acquisition and possession of narcotic substances.

Investigation has revealed that on January 24, 2024, police officers from Yerevan received reports while on duty in the Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district that the driver of a "Mercedes" was driving at high speed, ignoring red traffic lights.

Around 02:00, when the officers spotted the specified vehicle at the intersection of Freedom Avenue and Tbilisi Highway, they instructed the driver to stop via loudspeaker, but the driver did not comply with their legal demands, continuing to exhibit unlawful behavior.

Moreover, when the driver realized the police were pursuing him, he struck the police vehicle with the "Mercedes," attempting to interfere with the officers' lawful activities. Subsequently, trying to evade the police chase, he parked the vehicle on the road and fled on foot but was caught by police officers. During this time, he again obstructed the officers' legal activities by kicking one of them, causing bodily harm, and verbally abusing people present there while being arrested.

Additionally, during his actions, S.V. showed disrespect towards society and blatantly disregarded legal norms while trying to demonstrate superiority over other members of society by driving the "Mercedes" from the Kanaker-Zeytun district to the administrative territory of Ptghni community in Kotayk province, ignoring red traffic lights and the police officers' orders to stop. He drove the vehicle at high speed in the opposite direction of traffic, thereby endangering other road users, eventually hitting an "Opel" vehicle near the "Gagat" food point, causing damage.

Furthermore, lacking a driver's license, the arrested driver refused to undergo sobriety testing after being detained. It was also revealed that he had unlawfully acquired and possessed a significant quantity of 0.0026 grams of the drug "Buprenorphine," which was discovered during a personal search.

Based on sufficient evidence, S.V. has been charged under parts 2 and 3 of Article 452, part 1 of Article 297, part 2 of Article 344, and part 1 of Article 396 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. A motion has been filed with the court to apply detention as a measure of restraint, which has been granted. The investigation is ongoing.

It has become known to Radar Armenia that the arrested individual is the son of Jhvjhv Aro, Sarkis Vardanyan.
