Snow Falls in Goris, Kapan, and Meghri; Blizzards on the Roads

The Road Department Foundation reports that as of January 24 at 20:30, snow is falling in the regions of Ararat, Ejmiadzin, Talin, Ashotq, Aparan, Aragats, Vanadzor, Tumanyan, Stepanavan, Nairi, Abovyan, Sevan, Gavar, Dilijan, Jambarak, Tavush, Vayk, Goris, Kapan, and Meghri.

Due to heavy snowfall and intense blizzards, the Vardenyats mountain pass and the roads from the Jermuk junction to Gorayk, as well as the roads in Jermuk are closed for all types of vehicles. The Newavan-Ltsen-Tatev route, the M-9 interstate road towards Shinuhr-Tatev, Goris-Sisian, and Vanadzor-Dilijan roads are closed for heavy and trailer vehicles. The roads in the Noyemberyan region and the Dilijan twists are difficult to navigate for vehicles with trailers.

Blizzards are affecting the roads in Ashotq, Amasia, and Aragats regions. There are patches of black ice on the roads in Ashtarak, Abovyan, Gavar, Stepanavan, and the Horum-Artik-Alagyaz route. Other interstate and national roads remain open.

Road builders are conducting snow removal and treatment with salt and sand on the roads. To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
