Which Roads Are Closed in Armenia?
The Emergency Situations Service reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads within Armenia. Until February 15, due to road repair works, the M-6 highway section near Vanadzor-Alaverdi (between kilometers 38-40) will be closed for buses and heavy trucks with trailers or semi-trailers. A detour will be available through the town of Noyemberyan.
The roads from the Amberd high-altitude weather station in Aragatsotn Province to the Amberd Fortress and the Stone Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass (in blizzard), the turns of Stepanavan and Dilijan, the Vanadzor-Dilijan road, and the Saravan-Zanger route from the Jermuk intersection towards Jermuk city are also closed for trucks with trailers. Additionally, roads from the Ashotik region, the M4 to Fantan, and Jraberd villages, as well as sections 24-39 km of the Yerevan-Sevan Road (in blizzard) and from M2 towards Jermuk are impassable for all types of vehicles.
Snow is falling across the republic (intermittently). At the 164 km mark of the Yerevan-Meghri road, blizzard conditions are reported.
About Lars: According to information from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Emergency Department and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations’ North Ossetia crisis management center, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for heavy trucks. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
