Russian Ambassador Discusses Withdrawal of Russian Military Base from Armenia

The Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopirkin, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti, "There is no question of the withdrawal of the Russian military base from Armenia. We are guided by the official statements of the Armenian side; there are no signals on the Russian side regarding this issue," he elaborated while answering a question about whether any alerts have been received from Yerevan regarding the closure of the military base in Gyumri and the withdrawal of Russian border guards.

The ambassador emphasized, "The Russian side has a clear position that Armenian-Russian relations, despite all the problems and misunderstandings, and the attempts of external players, maintain their allied and strategic nature."
