What Happens If Armenia's Leader Takes an Aggressive Tone Towards Azerbaijan – Ioannissian

Daniel Ioannissian, the head of the 'Informed Citizens Union,' wrote on his Facebook page: 'What will happen if Armenia's leader adopts an aggressive tone towards Azerbaijan? Short answer – nothing good. Long answer – yes, many within the country will be pleased and feel moral satisfaction. But this will only legitimize Azerbaijan's refusal to negotiate with us and its more aggressive behavior towards Armenia. And legitimacy is precisely what Azerbaijan currently lacks for attacking Syunik.

If Azerbaijan suddenly manages to demonstrate to the world that Armenia has aggressive intentions, it will not hesitate to come for Syunik. Yes, Azerbaijan is aggressive towards us and has no peaceful intentions. But if, by any chance, the world begins to doubt our peaceful intentions, we will lose the political support that is currently preventing Azerbaijan from attacking Armenia. Azerbaijan's diplomacy tries to 'feed' the world the narrative that Armenia is not a victim but an aggressive country, where 'terrorist groups similar to OMA' operate, thereby preparing the ground (so far in vain) for aggression against us. If the authorities of our country start to speak aggressively, it will only aid Baku's agenda.'
