Outbreak of Avian Influenza Registered in Hungary

An outbreak of potentially dangerous avian influenza (H5N1) has been registered at a large poultry farm in Kaposvár, located in the southwestern part of Hungary. This information was reported by the National Food Chain Safety Office (NFCSO), according to TASS.

The agency emphasized that all 39,000 turkeys at the facility must be destroyed. "The destruction of the entire bird population has already been completed. In accordance with regulations, a protection zone with a radius of 3 km has been established around the facility, as well as a surveillance zone with a radius of 10 km," the national administration stated.

They also highlighted that epidemiological measures aimed at identifying the causes of the disease are still ongoing.
