Snow, Impassable and Closed Roads: Situation in Armenia

The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and impassable roads in the territory of Armenia.

“Due to road repair works until February 15, the section of the M-6 highway near Vanadzor-Alaverdi will be closed for buses and heavy trucks with trailers or semi-trailers from kilometers 38 to 40. An alternate route will be operational through the town of Noyemberyan,” the announcement states.

In the Aragatsotn province, the roads from the “Amberd” high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and to K'ar Lake are closed. The section of the road from the Noravank intersection to the Shinuhi intersection is closed for all types of vehicles.

In the town of Jermuk, the road section from the Jermuk intersection to Saravan-‘Zanger’ is closed for heavy vehicles, and the Vardenyats Pass is also closed for trucks with trailers. The Tatev-Lts'en-Sisian road section is closed for heavy vehicles.

In the Syunik province, roads and the Tatev-Aghvani road are impassable for heavy trucks with trailers. There is snowfall at the Harjisi junction.

“According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia’s North Ossetia, the Stepanatsminda-Larsi road is closed for heavy trucks with trailers. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires,” the announcement adds.
