A Resident of Armenia Killed in Russia over Debt
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested two residents of the Achinsk district in the Krasnoyarsk region on suspicion of murdering a resident of Armenia, to whom one of them owed nearly one million rubles, as reported by the Regional Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee on Telegram. This information was shared by RIA Novosti.
According to investigation data, a report was received on December 23 regarding the body of a man showing signs of violence. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the incident, and the two men, aged 37 and 56, have been detained.
They have been charged under Part 2 of Article 105 of the Russian Criminal Code (murder committed by a group of individuals by prior agreement and with mercenary motives). According to the investigation’s version, the victim regularly came to Achinsk from Armenia for treatment.
He had lent money to his 56-year-old acquaintance, with nearly one million rubles having accumulated as debt. The debtor decided it would be easier to get rid of the creditor.
“To execute his plan, he involved his friend by promising a monetary reward of 50,000 rubles. In the evening, under the pretext of returning the loan, the men brought the victim to the home of the creditor's friend. There, one of the men took a wooden block and followed the victim, hitting him on the head, after which the second assailant also struck the man several times. Due to the injuries sustained, the victim lost consciousness,” the statement reads.
To conceal the crime, the friends took the victim and disposed of him in a ditch. They are currently under arrest. According to the regional administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the deceased was a 75-year-old resident of a neighboring state who was supposed to return home just hours before his death.
Investigators found that the deceased had been coming to Achinsk for treatment for several years and during that time had made friends with individuals to whom he lent money at interest.
