Bridge Connecting Tbilisi Highway to Mikoyan Street to Be Constructed
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, discussions have continued on the agenda of the fifth meeting of the Investment Committee. Within the framework of the agenda, new projects were presented to the committee members. As part of the road construction program in Yerevan, the projects for the construction of the 'Tbilisi Highway-Yegvard Highway segment' and 'Construction of a new road connecting Rubinyants-Acharian' were introduced.
Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that the construction of a bridge connecting the Tbilisi Highway to Mikoyan Street is an extremely important project that connects the M4 highway to the north-south bypass road. He added that another bridge is being constructed over the Hrazdan River, which will have a significant impact on the unloading of transportation from the Arabkir administrative district.
In presenting the second project, the mayor highlighted that it would significantly reduce cargo transportation along Acharian and Myasnikyan streets and added that this project will also have a positive effect on traffic congestion in Yerevan. 'I am confident that both of these projects should be implemented with the support of the Government. They are large-scale projects that will have a significant impact not only on the city of Yerevan and its residents but also on freight carriers who will have the opportunity to bypass Yerevan,' Avinyan stated.
As a result of the discussions on the projects, a decision was made to conduct a technical-economic study in the first phase, the results of which will enable the realization of the projects. Tigran Avinyan noted that the construction of the Tbilisi-Mikoyan segment and bridge will take approximately 4-5 years, while the road connecting Rubinyants and Acharian streets can be completed in a slightly shorter timeframe.
