Recent Developments Were Unexpected and Unpleasant for All of Us: 'Public Voice' Issues Statement
The "Public Voice" faction of the Yerevan Council has issued a statement announcing that they did not participate in the discussions regarding changes in the leadership of the party. This information comes from the Facebook page of the faction's leader, Vahan Avagyan.
The statement reads: "The 'Public Voice' party, as well as the 'Public Voice' faction, were formed by a collective of individuals who share the same idea in an effort to confront the threats facing our country and nation. In light of the recent events, we consider it critically important to express our clear position and to bring clarity to our compatriots who have placed their trust in us regarding the current situation. We hereby declare: The recent developments were unexpected and unpleasant for all of us; however, setting aside personal ambitions and respecting the votes of over 22,000 Yerevan residents, we find it necessary to inform you that the members of the 'Public Voice' faction did not participate in any meetings or assemblies, nor in any discussions concerning changes in the party leadership. It follows that any decisions made were taken without our free will and expression of approach, which is not only unacceptable for all of us but also highly condemnable.
As devotees of our idea, we remain committed to our adopted orientations and are ready to fight until the end for democratic values, the protection of human and citizen rights, and the establishment of a rule of law state. For our faction, the paramount interest lies in national ideology and the restoration of justice. We have always stood alongside the state, statehood, and public interest. Our moral character is the guarantee of our victory. Every step we take should stem solely from the perspective of building a fair and legal state for every citizen of the Republic of Armenia and every Armenian."
