Nearly 800 Russian Pensioners Face Expulsion from Latvia

Nearly 800 Russian pensioners could be expelled from Latvia. This information was reported by the Russian embassy in Latvia through its Telegram channel. The report is based on information from gazeta.ru.

According to the diplomatic representation, a total of 1,167 Russians living in Latvia are at risk of expulsion. "1,167 citizens of Russia living in Latvia are at risk of being expelled, of which 789 are over the age of 60," the statement reads.

It is noted that the possibility of expulsion for Russian citizens became a reality due to amendments made to the "Immigration Law" that were adopted in the autumn of 2022. Prior to this, military pensioner Boris Katkov, who had been expelled by the Latvian authorities after living in the country for 57 years, stated that the authorities would soon begin expelling other Russians as well.

Katkov also mentioned that he plans to take his family out of the country soon, as many of its members are full citizens of Latvia. He added that Russia should take measures to protect its compatriots.
