Illegal Weapons Found at 53-Year-Old Astharak Man's Home; He Claims They Were Brought from Artsakh

On January 15, detectives from the Astharak division of the National Police, acting on operational intelligence, arrested a 53-year-old man on suspicion of illegally acquiring and possessing weapons and ammunition, as well as obtaining, keeping, and using narcotics. He reported that he was keeping weapons and ammunition brought from Artsakh in 2018, as well as cannabis for personal use.

This information was confirmed by the Police of the Republic of Armenia. A search was conducted at the man's home on Shiraz Street in Astharak, including adjacent auxiliary buildings, as part of the initiated criminal proceedings.

During the search, a total of 866 rounds of various calibers of automatic rifle ammunition, four F-1 type grenades with fuses, two magazines for an automatic rifle loaded with 7.62 mm rounds, six signal bullets, and three packages of a cannabis-like substance weighing a total of 122 grams were found in the basement. Additionally, a homemade firearm, 236 signal bullets, and 35 rounds of various calibers of automatic rifle ammunition were discovered in the bedroom.

The 53-year-old man from Astharak and the compiled documents have been submitted to the Aragatsotn regional investigative department.
