Displaced Persons from Artsakh Must Carry Temporary Protection Certificate While Traveling
By the decision No. 1864-N of the Government of Armenia dated October 26, 2023, the description of the document confirming the identity of refugees granted temporary protection from Artsakh and the procedure for its issuance has been established.
According to the adopted regulations, the document confirming the identity of refugees with temporary protection consists of a passport and a temporary protection (refugee) certificate. From January 28, 2024, these two documents will only be valid for travel in and out of the Republic of Armenia when used together.
Documents confirming the identity of refugees granted temporary protection are issued or exchanged in Armenia through the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs if registered in the State Registry of the population, and through Armenian diplomatic missions or consular institutions abroad. The temporary protection (refugee) certificate is provided upon application.
As of January 16, 2024, the number of applications received is 36,200, the number of printed certificates is 35,800, and the certificates issued to applicants is 28,490.
It should also be noted that next Saturday, January 20, will also be a working day in passport divisions, and individuals forcibly displaced from Artsakh can submit applications for the temporary protection certificate as well as perform other passport-related actions on that day.
On January 20, from 09:00 to 18:00, the passport divisions of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will operate in Central, Nor Nork, Shengavit, Arabkir, Avan, Kanaker-Zeytun, Malatya, Erebuni, Mashtots, Charbakh, Kotayk, Vagharshapat, Ashtarak, Ararat Group / town of Vedi /, Ararat Division, Artashat, Goris, Ijevan, Nairi, Hrazdan, Nor Hajn, and Metsamor.
