Clarification from OMA Regarding the Incident of Shooting an 11-Year-Old Boy
This morning, shamshyan.com published an article titled "Extraordinary Incident in Yerevan: A 17-Year-Old Cadet of the 'Art of Survival' Military-Patriotic Organization Fired Several Times at an 11-Year-Old Boy, Causing Bodily Harm." To clarify what actually happened, 'Detk' spoke with the deputy director of OMA.
He stated that on January 6, Hovhannes Matzakyan, who participated in OMA's training sessions about a year ago, visited the OMA center. That day, he was also playing in the yard of the dormitory with children who routinely play there. As a result of the game, he fired at 11-year-old Volodya with a toy purchased from a store.
“Volodya and Hovhannes often come to OMA, play together, and even frequently sit with us around the table to eat. I don’t understand the obsession with turning a sheep into a camel, using our logo to collect views, and exploiting the fact that he is a cadet of OMA. I want to emphasize that OMA training sessions only resumed on January 8, two days after the incident, and there was no OMA instructor present in the area. I urge anyone spreading such information to contact us first to clarify how things really were,” Vaghinyak stated.
