8 citizens, including 2 women, entered the customs control zone in an intoxicated state: The State Revenue Committee clarifies

The State Revenue Committee, taking into account the publications circulating in news websites and social media regarding the theme of a citizen being assaulted at the Bavra customs checkpoint, and aiming to prevent the further spread of distorted information, provides the following details regarding the unpleasant incident.

Citizen L. Gasparyan regularly crosses the border at the Bavra border checkpoint, importing various household items under the guise of personal use. Frequently, he and the accompanying individuals are in an intoxicated state, displaying inappropriate and aggressive behavior. This behavior is intentionally exhibited to conceal the goods subject to declaration.

On January 15, 2024, the aforementioned citizen, along with 7 other accompanying individuals, including 2 women, entered the customs control zone in an intoxicated state, exhibiting inadequate and aggressive conduct. They used profanity in the presence of other citizens, attempted to damage state property, disrupted the normal operation of the customs point, and did not comply with the lawful demands of the customs officers.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts by customs officers to restore order and manage the situation, the individuals were expelled from the customs control zone, during which the aforementioned individual exhibited resistance. The State Revenue Committee has taken appropriate measures to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the incident through an internal inquiry.
