Tiran Khachatryan Involved in Altercation with Araik Harutyunyan's Brother
According to NEWS.am, the altercation that occurred yesterday in the village of Aramus also involved Araik Harutyunyan's brother, the former President of Artsakh. It is worth mentioning that Tiran Khachatryan faces public criminal prosecution under Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code (Hooliganism committed with the use of weapons or threats of their use).
The former deputy chief of the General Staff, Tiran Khachatryan, has been arrested in connection with the incident at a restaurant in the village of Aramus. Earlier, the Investigative Committee reported: “On January 11, 2024, late in the evening, the Police received a report about an incident involving several individuals in the village of Aramus. At 23:39, a report was received from the ‘Abovyan’ Medical Center about a man from the village of Aramus who had been brought in with a gunshot wound to the right wrist.”
Initial information suggests that on January 11, 2024, at approximately 22:45, an argument broke out among dozens of unidentified individuals in the yard of a restaurant near “Erik.” During the quarrel, the individuals exchanged blows while hurling mutual insults, and one participant, continuing the hooligan behavior, fired shots from his weapon, injuring the aforementioned local resident.
Considering the report received from the Police, signs of hooliganism by a group of individuals, using an object or means prepared or adapted beforehand for the commission of hooliganism, causing medium severity harm with a weapon, and the illegal acquisition, sale, possession, or carrying of firearms and ammunition were identified. Consequently, a criminal case was initiated in the Kotayk regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee under Article 297, part 2, point 1; Article 297, part 3; Article 335, part 1; and Article 167, part 2, point 8 of the RA Criminal Code, which has been transferred to the main department for particularly important cases of the RA Investigative Committee.
During the pre-trial investigation, an examination of the crime scene was conducted, blood-like traces, evidence of gunfire, spent cartridges, and other items were found. Individuals have been interrogated. The person who received the hand injury has been recognized as the injured party and has been questioned.
