Parking Fees for Vehicles at Gyumri Customs Area to Increase
The National Assembly is discussing a draft amendment to the law on state duties, which proposes to raise the parking fees for vehicles at the Northern customs. Rustam Badasyan, the head of the State Revenue Committee, stated, "In cases of heavy workload, when vehicles are parked in the Gyumri customs area, the customs clearance of products from other operators becomes difficult. We propose to reduce the congestion by increasing the rates of state duties so that other operators do not suffer losses in time and financial resources."
According to him, imported vehicles must be cleared within three days, during which no parking fee will be charged, with a fee of 5,000 dram per day only starting from the fourth day. Badasyan also mentioned that the law will come into effect six months after its adoption. He emphasized that the aim of the draft is not to generate significant revenue, but to reduce the congestion at the customs.
