Azerbaijan Produces Fake Ukrainian Passports for Asylum Seekers
The State Security Service of Azerbaijan (SSS) has arrested members of a transnational organized crime group involved in creating fake Ukrainian passports for individuals seeking asylum in European countries. The information was provided on the SSS website, as reported by gazeta.ru.
It was noted that these counterfeit documents were produced for citizens of Azerbaijan and other countries, allowing them to legally reside in different countries under the guise of Ukrainian citizenship, obtain asylum, and move without visas.
During the investigation, it was revealed that members of the criminal group had illegally prepared and provided Ukrainian passports, identification cards, driving licenses, and other documents to individual citizens in exchange for monetary rewards since January 2023. Each fake document reportedly cost up to 30,000 dollars.
The suspects have been arrested and are being investigated in Azerbaijan. Charges have been filed for the illegal production and sale of counterfeit documents, as well as other criminal activities. The investigation also uncovered individuals moving with fake Ukrainian documents in various countries.
