Public Criminal Proceedings Initiated Against Tigran Khachatryan: Lawyer

The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Tigran Khachatryan's defense attorney, Varazdat Harutyunyan, reports: “Public criminal proceedings have been initiated against Lieutenant General Tigran Khachatryan under part 3 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code. Despite the general's career path, achievements, disability resulting from combat missions, and several other circumstances, a petition has been submitted by the investigator to use detention as a pre-trial measure against Tigran Khachatryan. The petition has been assigned to the judge of the Criminal Court of First Instance of Yerevan, Gagik Poghosyan (Central headquarters). We will provide additional information once the hearing time is specified,” he wrote.

It is noteworthy that the former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Tigran Khachatryan, was arrested in connection with an incident that occurred at a restaurant in the village of Aramus. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the report of the altercation was received on January 11 at 23:00. At 23:39, a notification was received from the 'Abovyan' Medical Center that a man born in 1977 was transported to them for medical assistance with a diagnosis of 'fracture of the right wrist, laceration wound with injury to the tendon.'

The former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Tigran Khachatryan, was apprehended in Jruvaj and during a personal search, a CZ-75 model combat pistol with 16 bullets in the magazine and one bullet in the chamber was found on him.
