Maradona's Son Believes His Father Was Murdered
Diego Armando Maradona Jr., the son of legendary footballer and 1986 World Cup champion Diego Maradona, has declared that his father was murdered. This was reported by Marca.
“There is an open investigation. We, his children, truly believe in Argentine justice. I think it shouldn’t have ended this way. They killed my father. It’s not my job to lay charges and say who did it, but I have assumptions in this regard. He was left at the mercy of fate when something could have been done. I have promised myself that I will fight for justice until the last day,” said Maradona Jr.
In 2022, Argentine prosecutors launched an investigation against eight doctors who were accused of being involved in Maradona's murder. According to testimonies that prosecutors have been able to obtain from individuals who visited Maradona’s home, his residence did not meet the standards of care required for someone after major surgery.
Maradona passed away at the age of 61 on November 25, 2020. The cause of death was acute heart failure, which led to pulmonary edema.
