John Kerry to Leave Joe Biden's Administration

The U.S. Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, is set to step down from his position this winter and continue to assist Joe Biden in his re-election campaign, according to Reuters.

Kerry met with President Biden on January 10, where he informed the president of his intention to resign. A few days later, the special envoy gathered his advisers for an 'impromptu' meeting, where he announced his decision to leave the administration.

The 80-year-old Kerry stated that given it is an election year, he is resigning, but he will not abandon climate issues. He also mentioned to NBC News that he will do everything possible to help President Biden's re-election.

Axios sources detail that Kerry considers Biden's re-election to be the most significant change for progress in climate issues both domestically and globally.

It is important to note that the U.S. presidential elections are scheduled for November 5, 2024.
