Project for Dam Construction on Araks River Coordinated with Turkey
The project to construct a dam on the Araks River, aimed at restoring its former course, is being coordinated with Turkey if necessary. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia.
The cost of constructing the dam for the communities of Araksavan and Burastan is estimated to be around $1 million.
The press service stated that according to a contract signed by the Water Committee of the Armenian Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, the construction work will be carried out by the company "AS SHIN TRANS" LLC.
“Currently, discussions are underway regarding the project's documentation that needs to be coordinated with the leadership of the Russian border forces and, if necessary, with the Turkish side, regarding the relevant procedures. After the completion of these discussions, construction work will commence,” the response noted.
According to the aforementioned contract and design budget documents, the duration of the construction work is 16 months.
