Incident in Aramus Village Reported by Investigative Committee
On January 11, 2024, late in the evening, the police received a call from a citizen regarding an incident involving several individuals in Aramus village. At 23:39, a report was received from the Abovyan Medical Center stating that a man residing in Kotayk Province had been transported for medical assistance with a gunshot wound to his right wrist.
Preliminary information indicates that around 22:45 on January 11, a dispute broke out among approximately a dozen individuals in the backyard of a restaurant called "Eriki Mot" in Aramus village. During the altercation, they exchanged blows accompanied by mutual insults, at which point one of the participants, continuing the hooligan actions, fired a gun and inflicted bodily harm on the aforementioned resident.
Considering that the report received by the police contains signs of hooliganism committed by a group of individuals, as well as characteristics of illegal acts involving forethought or applicable objects, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 297, Part 2, Clause 1, Article 297, Part 3, Article 335, Part 1, and Article 167, Part 2, Clause 8 of the RA Criminal Code. This case has been transferred to the main investigative department for particularly important cases of the RA Investigative Committee.
During the preliminary investigation, an examination of the crime scene was conducted, and traces of blood, signs of gunfire, bullets, and other items were discovered. Individuals involved have been interviewed. The person who sustained injury to their hand has been recognized as a victim and questioned.
The police have been instructed to carry out operational-investigative measures to identify individuals involved in the incident, to discover the weapon used, and to clarify other circumstances of interest to the investigation. As a result of the measures taken, five individuals who were reportedly involved in the incident were found and presented to the investigating authority on January 12, based on grounds of direct suspicion of committing the aforementioned criminal acts.
