US May Launch New Strikes, Media Reports

The United States could launch new strikes against the Houthis, a Shiite movement backed by Iran, which controls northern and central Yemen, if necessary. This was reported by Axios, citing two unnamed American officials, according to RIA Novosti.

“The United States anticipates that the Houthis will respond, and while they do not seek escalation, American forces in the region are prepared to defend themselves and launch new strikes if necessary,” the publication quoted the officials as saying.

It is worth recalling that earlier reports indicated that the US and the UK conducted strikes against the Houthi positions in Yemen overnight.
