Israeli Foreign Minister Reminds Erdogan of the Armenian Genocide

In light of the military operations in the Gaza Strip, Turkey's accusations against Israel lack basis, and Ankara should remember the fate of the Armenians and Kurds. This was stated by Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz following critical remarks made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan towards Israel. The information was reported by TASS.

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, from a country with a history of the Armenian Genocide, now boasts baseless accusations against Israel. We remember the Armenians and the Kurds. Your history speaks for itself. Israel is defending itself, not destroying, standing against your barbaric allies,” Katz wrote on his X page.

Previously, Erdogan expressed hope that Israel would be condemned by the UN International Court for its actions in the Gaza Strip, which, according to the Turkish leader, constitute war crimes.

A lawsuit has been filed against Israel in the International Court in The Hague by the authorities of the South African Republic, regarding a possible violation of the convention on the prevention and punishment of the crime of genocide. The document states that Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip could be characterized as genocide, as they are carried out with the specific intent of “destroying the Palestinians in Gaza as part of a broader Palestinian national, racial, and ethnic group.” Within the framework of this lawsuit, the South African side seeks a ruling from the court that Israel is violating its obligations under the convention and must cease all military operations in the Gaza Strip and pay reparations.

The Israeli side has denied these allegations, labeling South Africa's stance as hypocritical, and requested that the case be removed from consideration during hearings. Katz stated during the court hearings that the South African Republic itself is violating the genocide convention by supporting the Palestinian Hamas radical movement, which is considered a terrorist organization in Israel and against which a military operation is being conducted in Gaza.

It is noteworthy that Israel does not recognize the Armenian Genocide.
