US Embassy on Louis Bono's Non-Acceptance in Baku

The US Embassy in Armenia has effectively not denied that Baku has refused to accept Louis Bono, the senior advisor to the US Secretary of State for Caucasus negotiations. Earlier, Azerbaijani media reported that Baku declined to meet with US Secretary of State's senior advisor Louis Bono because it does not accept the approaches to resolution proposed by the US in the region and does not see the US as a credible mediator.

Radar Armenia has sent an inquiry to the US Embassy in Armenia to understand how the United States interprets this step by the Azerbaijani side. The response from the US Embassy stated, "Senior Advisor L. Bono regularly visits the region to discuss the United States' support for the peace process and the pathways to achieving a sustainable and dignified peace. In support of the peace process, Mr. Bono regularly meets with key stakeholders in Armenia and Azerbaijan. We are ready to assist any process that will bring peace and stability to the peoples of the South Caucasus."
