Investigators Examine Circumstances Surrounding 20-Year-Old Erik Harutyunyan's Death

On January 6, 2024, at 04:21, a report was received from the medical facility stating that the ambulance crew recorded the biological death of 20-year-old E.H. around 03:45 at the specified address on Alikhanian Brothers Street. No signs of violence were found upon external examination of the body.

This was reported by the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, Gor Abrahamyan. “Following the death incident, the Investigative Division for Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of the RA Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under the features outlined in Article 155, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code, classifying it as accidental death. On the same day, a forensic medical examination was appointed to determine the cause of E.H.’s death as well as other circumstances relevant to the case. An on-site investigation was conducted at the specified address.

According to preliminary data gathered during the investigation, the victim was at the home of his sister and her husband at the time. The summoned ambulance team provided first aid to the victim and transported him to the medical facility; however, he arrived at the hospital already deceased. The investigation has received information indicating that E.H. had pre-existing health issues and had undergone relevant medical examinations prior to this incident.

The investigation is ongoing, with efforts being made to clarify the causes of death and to verify all circumstances related to the events leading up to it, including information circulated in the press. Consequently, the actions of all individuals involved will be assessed legally,” Abrahamyan wrote.

It is noteworthy that Erik Karapetyan's parents blame the Ministry of Defense for their child's death.
