Shops Selling Non-Compliant Drink Mixes to Be Closed in Armenia

Shops in Armenia that sell drink mixes not meeting quality standards will be closed. The head of the Armenian State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, presented the draft amendments to the Law on Customs Regulation during a meeting of the National Assembly's Economic Affairs Committee.

According to the proposed amendments, the government will develop the necessary quality standards, and companies that comply with these standards will be included in the register of entities engaged in the trade of drink mixes. Such registers must be established by all member countries in accordance with the EAEU regulations.

According to the State Revenue Committee president, a transitional period will be provided for existing shops, during which they must align their operations with the standards; otherwise, they will no longer be allowed to operate after a certain date.

Additionally, it is proposed to establish territorial privileges for such shops in customs control zones (airports and land border crossings), and the organization of commercial activities will be based on a competition set by the government.

The government intends to adopt the relevant decision in the near future, following the adoption of the bill.
