The acceptance of the trilateral statement, under those conditions, I believe was our great political success. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during an interview with local television channels.

The leader of the neighboring country noted that if Shusha had not been "liberated from occupation, we would not have been able to include those conditions in the statement." He further added, "In other words, our victory, that we were strong, allowed us to include even those conditions that were not related to this issue, particularly concerning the Zangezur corridor."
