Millions in Corruption Within Ukrainian Armed Forces
The internal audit of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has uncovered more than 10 billion hryvnias (approximately 27 million USD) in violations over a short period. This was reported on the Facebook page of Defense Minister Rustem Umierov. The information was relayed by RIA Novosti.
"They (the internal audit of the Ministry of Defense and the newly updated chief inspection group) have already identified numerous violations amounting to over ten billion hryvnias committed in the last four months," he wrote.
Just the day before, Ukraine's State Bureau of Investigations announced that a new criminal case has been opened against a former deputy minister of defense and the head of the department. They are accused of misusing nearly 950 million hryvnias (over 25 million USD) while purchasing bulletproof vests.
